On the 26th of June 1966, I graduated from Van Etten Central school, having majored in Baseball & Basketball. On the 27th of June I was in the United States Air Force (see photo below) and I thought I would become a Jet Pilot. The Air Force had other plans for me and told me I was going to "OCS". I thought I was going to "Officer Candidate School" I soon found myself in "Oklahoma Cook School" Taking an oath that if I was ever captured I was not to ever give up my brownie recipe! After serving my country for four years I spent the next 20 years in management in the restaurant business. And then I moved into sales for the next 20 years and always knowing I'd go back to the food service field!!! As I near retirement I decided to start "Joe's Hot's" in April 09' |
